ASTM A36 Carbon Steel U Channel for Structural Framing Requirements
Hot rolled steel U channel is described with thickness 2–16 mm and lengths of 6, 9 or 12 m or as required. Black and galvanized surface alternatives and non-perforated supply are listed.
Specify ASTM A36 material explicitly and provide the complete section dimensions and applicable section standard. Q235B, Q345B and generic stainless references require separation from the chosen carbon steel specification. U, C and Z forms must not be assumed to carry equivalent loads.
For heavy framing, define connection details, member length and the required inspection evidence. High strength wording has no numerical mechanical value or design capacity. No coating thickness, weld qualification or structural approval is supplied by the broad standards and building application descriptions, so acceptance must be tied to the selected member.
