Specify a stainless steel coil as a grade, thickness, width and surface requirement rather than as a list of finish names. This coil enquiry covers custom-width ordering and a stated thickness range of 0.3–3.0 mm.

Set the strip dimensions first

Provide the required coil thickness and width together. If the coil will be decoiled, cut or formed, include the downstream drawing or strip requirement so the proposed supplied condition can be discussed.

• Name the required stainless grade, such as 304, 316 or 321.
• Specify thickness within the stated 0.3–3.0 mm range.
• Provide the custom strip width needed for the process.
• Identify the requested NO.1, BA, 2B, HL or satin appearance.
• Describe any decoiling, cutting or forming requirement.

Agree one surface designation

For a stainless coil, different finish names should not be treated as equivalent appearances. Ask which exact grade and finish combination is proposed, especially where a visible face will remain after fabrication.

Confirm the coil before release

Request confirmation of the dimensions, delivered condition and relevant material documents for the chosen coil. General certificate labels do not by themselves establish compliance with a particular project specification.
