Steel Coil Slitting for Buyer-Specified Strip Requirements
A coil-slitting enquiry must define the master material, slit-width schedule, edge acceptance and recoiling format. Our catalogue contains coil and strip records, which can support a material discussion. They do not by themselves establish an available in-house slitting service; confirm the actual provider, processing scope and material responsibility before quoting the work.

Identify ownership and the incoming master coil
State whether the buyer supplies the master coil or asks for material and processing together. Provide material identity, condition, dimensions, coil envelope and any available inspection records. Agree how incoming damage or unidentified stock will be recorded before processing so responsibility is clear at the start.
Write a complete slit-width schedule
Give every required strip width, its tolerance and quantity or mass basis. Include the total planned combination and any permitted alternative arrangement. A request for narrow strips without the schedule leaves unresolved how the master coil will be divided and which output is acceptable for the buyer’s downstream process.
Specify the cut-edge acceptance
State the edge characteristics that affect the next operation, including any required burr or edge-condition limit and its measurement basis. Agree the relevant sampling and inspection record. A neat-looking strip edge in a photograph cannot establish the numerical acceptance of the processed coil.

Confirm who actually performs the processing
Ask for the actual service provider and the work included in the offer. Clarify material receipt, slitting, inspection, recoiling and dispatch responsibility separately. Our broad coil catalogue is not evidence that every operation is performed in the same facility or that a particular slitting range is available.
Define the recoiled strip package
Provide the required coil inside diameter, outside envelope, weight range, winding direction and separation method. Include any limits from the downstream payoff equipment. The strip can meet width tolerance yet still be unusable in the intended line if the recoiling format does not match its handling and feed requirements.

Agree yield and remnant responsibility before work
State how input mass, accepted output, edge trim, remnants and any rejected material will be recorded and owned. Define the treatment of unplanned loss or a disputed output. A transparent material balance helps compare service quotations without turning an estimate into an unsupported yield guarantee.
Approve a trial with the intended downstream use
Where qualification is needed, define a representative trial quantity and inspect the slit strip against the width, edge and recoiling requirements. Run any required downstream check under the buyer’s approved process. Keep the trial material and result linked so approval applies to the stated service scope and material condition.
Protect strip identity through packing and delivery
Agree edge protection, surface protection, coil separation and marking for the route. Preserve the link from master coil to each output group and packing-list line. Confirm the actual packing proposal and handling limits; illustrative slit coils are not evidence of a completed service or a specific export package.

Send a slitting-service brief
Share master-coil ownership, material and dimensions, the slit-width schedule, edge criteria and recoiling limits. Add inspection, material-balance and delivery requirements. We can discuss the relevant catalogue context and confirm whether a specific processing offer and provider can be identified before any service commitment is made.
